Begin your journey into the world of tea with this foundational course. Explore the basics of tea types, brewing methods, and sensory appreciation through hands-on practice. Students will brew teas using gaiwans and infusers, learn to identify fundamental tea characteristics, and experience their first structured tea-tasting journey.

The History of Tea

  • The origins and evolution of tea.

  • Global tea production (Global Tea Map)

An Overview of the Tea Plant

  • Native tea trees and the two main varieties of Camellia Sinensis

  • The physical and biochemical composition of Camellia Sinensis.

  • Seasons (East & West), flushes, and terroir of tea.

Discover the Different Types of Tea

  • Understand the six main types of conventional teas.

  • Other Tea Types - scented, flavoured, blended

Tea Tasting and Food Pairing Session

  • Tea Tasting 

  • Conventional teas (non-oxidized, partially oxidized, fully oxidized, post fermented) - White, Green, Yellow, Oolong, Black/Red, Dark (Raw & Ripe)

  • Other tea types - naturally scented, flavoured, and blended teas (AST Signature Flavoured & Blended Teas)

  • Taste receptors and the five universal tastes

Policies


Confirmation Policy

  • The participant receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking

  • In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the participant’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email

  • Alternatively, the participant may choose to cancel their booking and a full refund will be processed


Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellation is done at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the program, 25% of the advance payment shall be deducted and the balance amount shall be refunded.

  • If cancellation is done less than 15 days prior to the commencement of the program, 50% of the advance payment shall be deducted and the balance amount shall be refunded

  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases, the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.


Refund Policy

  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
