About the course

Our Tea Sommelier Program is a vivid course on the fundamentals of tea. It encompasses knowledge about conventional teas (Camellia sinensis) as well as herbal teas/tisanes. It is a 4 days program. The entire training shall be conducted in the tea plantations.

• Visit to tea plantation and interactive session with tea farmers

• Organic and bio-dynamic methods of tea cultivation

• Sensory evaluation

• Guide to tea tasting – step-by-step tea cupping and evaluation of tea quality

• Methodology and terminology

• Tea flavour wheel and flavour analysis practice

Session 4

• An overview of the tea plant / varietal / cultivar / terroirs

• Tasting Assamica black tea from different terroirs

• Tasting some famous teas from across the world's terroirs

Session 5

• Processing phases of main types of tea

• Visit the tea factory and learn about tea processing

• Tasting some Assamica black tea processed using different methods

Session 6

• Tea grading and evaluation

• Grades of Green Tea / White tea / Oolong Tea / Post-fermented tea, Pu-erh

• Standard black tea grading

• Tasting and evaluating black teas of different grades

Session 7

• Tea blending & packaging

• Visit tea blending and packing factory

• Evaluate some defects that may occur during the process

Session 8

• An introduction to conducting a tea ceremony

• Gong Fu Cha tea ceremony, Japanese tea ceremony "Chanoyu"

• Visit to Tea House for afternoon tea party

Policies

Confirmation Policy

• The participant receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking

• In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the participant’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email

• Alternatively, the participant may choose to cancel their booking and a full refund will be processed

Cancellation Policy

• If cancellation is done at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the program, 25% of the advance payment shall be deducted and the balance amount shall be refunded.

• If cancellation is done lesser than 15 days prior to the commencement of the program, 50% of the advance payment shall be deducted and the balance amount shall be refunded

• In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However no refund will be provided for the same.

Refund Policy

• The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
